Picking the best Affix for our dogs was very difficult and it took all our time to pick something that would suit them. We eventually decided on a Gaelic word: TaibhseGhlas meaning Grey Ghost which is the other name given to this beautiful breed.
Our first dog was a Weimaraner but we were very lucky to become the proud owners of a Bracco Italiano. The Bracco Italiano came off the Import Register in January 2008 and are still very difficult to find in this country. We hope with the acceptance of the breed in the Kenel Club will help to increase their numbers.
Tom and I have always loved dogs since we both had them when we were growing up.
When we got married in 2002 we decided that our wedding present to each other would be a puppy. After discussing what would be the ideal dog for us we realised we had both always loved the German Breed, the Weimaraner. Since I worked shifts at the time and would be able to give her adequate exercise and company we agreed to look for one. The Weimaraner is a beautiful and intelligent breed who enjoys human company. They can be prone to separation anxiety and some do not kennel well.
We did as much research as we could and talked to as many people we could find with knowledge on the breed and eventually decided that this was the breed for us. Then in December 2002 we got our first 'girl', a beautiful little Weimaraner.
Kera didn't stay little for long.
As we had researched into the Weimaraner we read about another breed called the Bracco Italiano. This breed has just been taken off the Import Register and is still difficult to find in this country at the moment.
In 2004 we came across a breeder when we were at one of the Championship Shows and discovered she breed Bracchi. Our luck continued when we discovered her bitch was having pups. So in October 2004 we went into partnership with L. Bowley and the next member of our family arrived home.
You will find when you bring a dog into your home your friendships widen to include many others with dogs. This means you normally have someone to keep you company when your dog walking. We are both members of the Weimaraner Club of Scotland and support then in many of their Club Activities. We are also members of the Weimaraner Club of Ireland and the Bracco Italiano Society.
We have been showing our dogs since Kera was a year old. Within the first year she qualified for Crufts and again in 2005.
Dori (Gunsyn Gabriella) has also did us proud, within her 1st 6 months she has been awarded Joint Best Import Puppy 2005, Best Bracco Puppy and Joint Best Chestnut Bitch by the Bracco Society. She also qualified for the Scottish Kennel Club's Top Pup of the year competition 2005.
We have Hip Scored our dogs and will only breed with dogs that have also been hips scored.
